YET ANOTHER football post, SORRY, I am EXCITED

Readers, did you know that only 7 teams have won the World Cup?  Ever?  It is true.  I guessed them all correctly yesterday (thanks to a friend who quizzed me on this) - you can see if you can guess them all in comments before you google it.  Or I can play the game with you, and let you know when you're close.

But one of those teams just got knocked out of the World Cup.  Brazil, that is what you DESERVE for cleating a dude on the hamstring when he's down.  I mean, seriously?  You're Brazil.  Stop with this Italian cheat-y drama bullshit.  LOOK WHERE THAT GOT ITALY THIS YEAR.

Well done, Netherlands.  Well done.  What a good game.

p.s. I might also have been cheering for the Netherlands because my first three youth soccer teams, from when I was 5 years old till when I was 8, wore orange jerseys.  We were called "The Orange Crush."  Awesome, I know.

  1. Hey again :)

I am so glad Netherlands won. The reason is, the result actually would have had a direct effect on my life. I worked on that bigass nike commercial, but all the players in it are out of the world cup, so if Brazil had gone through, I'd have had to spend my weekend at work desperately trying to make a 30 second ad about Robinho instead of celebrating my birthday!

    Hup Holland :D

  2. Dude, which commercial? Can you send a link? I don't have TV, I have no idea about any Nike ad.

And I am glad that there was an added bonus to the the Dutch win! All the sweeter.

Most expensive ad ever made :D

I worked on all the stadium crowds - they actually filmed all this in like some dingy warehouse or something - the stadiums and crowd are entirely done in 3d.

  4. WHOOOOOAAAAAAAA.

That? Awesome. I love the fun had at the insanity of soccer (football!) fandom.

It's really cool you worked on that.

Also a shame Rooney is in it so much :)

  5. I know right? What the hell?!?

Apparently one day he didn't turn up to the shoot and it cost something obscene like $500,000 because of the cost of the cast & crew and director and stuff...

Sometimes I think, like....that's a lot of books, and water pumps, and innoculations, and mosquito nets, you know? *sigh*

  6. On to the next game! I'm broken hearted that Ghana lost like that! We needed africa to get in the semi's. But alas, it just wasnt meant to be in 2010. Very crushing loss
